Active Land Use Policy

This future-splitting question explores Active Land Use Policy. The question was:

“Should the Town of Falmouth aim to control the amount and type of development or rely on market forces to direct the amount and type of development?”

Survey participants were presented with a continuum from 1 to 10, with a range as follows:

1 = Town directs
10 = Market directs

Key things to note:

  • This data skews strongly to the left hand side of the continuum, which is the town directs (and controls) the amount and type of development.
  • This response suggests that the tools such as land use policy and comprehensive planning will be important to help direct and manage / control development.
