Community Fabric and Focus

The community values, focus and fabric have been discussed throughout the Vision and Values process.

In the future, should the community focus only on existing residents needs and wants, or should it appeal to a cross section of new and current residents? Please select your preference on the following continuum:

  • 1 = INWARD FOCUS – The community invests in its existing residents who have earned their place. The focus is on preserving a traditional small town rural community.
  • 10 = OUTWARD FOCUS – The focus is on enhancing community fabric by becoming more inclusive, accessible, and welcoming. Falmouth pursues efforts to boost community attractiveness, relevance, and affordability to a wider cross section of current and future residents.

Key things to note:

  • The data skews slightly towards ‘Inward Focus’. This appears consistent between most cohort groups, but skews slightly more this way in older demographics.
  • Overall, people under 40 lean more to ‘Outward Focus’.
  • This data support the community conversations, where the focus is more inwards and concerned about matter that directly impact the existing residents needs and aspirations.
