Focus Groups Overview

The first main steps in the University City Community Vision 2040 project were the Community Survey #1 and the Listening Sessions. The second step was the Think-Tank. The third steps in the visioning process are the Community Survey #2 and the Focus Groups.

Seven in-person Strategic Pillar Focus Groups were held June 15-18. These facilitated focus groups aimed to build a deeper understanding of each topic and its implications for University City. A key part of the visioning process, the Focus Groups helped to synthesize community input from both Community Surveys and the Think-Tank, and to explore a set of crucial questions.

Key Focus Group Topics

  1. Sustainability and Resilience – Continue to pursue environmental sustainability practices
  2. Community Fabric and Equity – Foster a strong and vibrant social fabric
  3. Education  and Schools – Strengthen the connections to U-City Education/Schools 
    (2 time/day options provided)
  4. Strategic Partnerships – Enhance the City’s strategic partnerships
  5. Neighborhood Nodes and Local Business Districts – Strengthen the City’s neighborhood nodes and local business districts
  6. Olive Boulevard Redevelopment – Provide for equitable Olive Boulevard redevelopment
