Future Direction – Scenario Validation – All Respondents

This chart plots the key topic responses over the scenario matrix. Each of the themes (axes) of Community Focus and Infrastructure Trajectory where broken in four actions areas. These action areas were drawn from the end point descriptions of the axes, as developed at the Think Tank. Participants scored each of the actions on a scale of not important to extremely important. The responses for each survey respondents were then combined, and averaged to create an X,Y coordinate. This approximates the Preferred Future, and is a way to validate the data from the Think Tank. In this way, we can assess how people perceive the future direction based on the culmination of a range of related actions. It reflects importance and appetite for change.

In this chart, all respondents are plotted, and grouped – the larger the circle, the more responses. By hovering over each circle you can see more details about the data point.

Key things to note:

  • The data leans to the upper right of the matrix, and the dashed line can show the average and median response. This is different to the broad sentiment charts, which suggests that these action areas might be more tangible to people, or they see more value in these actions than in a broader sentiment about change.
  • The data suggest a reasonable strong cumulative appetite for change, with the cluster of responses higher on the collective importance scale.
  • This data tends to suggest that based on specific action, respondents showed a similar level of support for the scenario of ‘Sugarland – Shaping the Next Generation’, as did the Think Tank participants. This data is also balanced by the clear desire for a safe, family friendly community – as has been highlighted in other survey questions.
