Future Direction – Combined Sentiment Chart – Cohort Summary

This chart also plots the two broad sentiment questions (Community Focus and Infrastructure Trajectory), in a framework that mirrors the scenario matrix. In this case, the data is grouped into cohorts based on age and location people live. By hovering over each bubble, the number of responses is revealed. The data can be filtered using the profile questions on the right hand side of the chart. In addition, the dashed line represents the median or average, can be selected by the filter on the right hand side.

This method of plotting the sentiment results helps reveal how different groups (cohorts) of stakeholders may view the future direction.

Key things to note:

  • The data shows that appetite for change does correlate with age – with younger groups seeking more change in both axis.
  • There are distinctly different appetites for change and future direction between cohorts of people who live, for example in District 4, and people who don’t live in Sugar Land. This difference likely reflects people the important perspective differences between people who are very content with the current Sugar land experience, and those who have a different lens and perhaps are looking further down the road (like young people, investors and City staff). This is at the core of the community dynamic and fabric in Sugar Land, with the issue being how does the community retain its current strength and character, while also successfully positioning itself for the future.
