Future Direction – Community Focus – Key Topics

The Stakeholder Survey included questions to help understand the appetite for the Preferred Future that was identified at the Think Tank. This was framed as responses to questions about the importance of series of action, under the Community Focus theme. The question was framed as:

COMMUNITY FOCUS and FABRIC: As we think about the future of the Sugar Land community, we are interested in your thoughts about how important it is to focus on different aspects of the community and social fabric. We want to know how important you think are the following actions over the next 10 years. Actions areas included:

  • Build a diverse intergenerational community fabric
  • Create exceptional quality of life for current and new residents
  • Embrace emerging demographic and social change
  • Foster strong, connected and engaged neighborhood communities

The scale for the questions was Scale: 1 = Not important ; 10 = Extremely important. Responses were grouped based on categories as follows:

  • 1-4 = Not Important
  • 5-6 = Neutral
  • 7-10 = Important

Key things to note:

  • Action areas that were seen as particularly important are ‘Create exceptional quality of life for current and new residents’ and ‘Foster strong, connected and engaged neighborhood communities’.
  • All Action areas received significant support, with responses saying ‘Important’ being similar too, or outweighing, those saying ‘Not Important’.
  • Some of the action areas reflects the split view in the community, but overall, the actions under the Community Focus theme were seen as important for the future.
