Desired Trail Standards

Respondents were asked about the MINIMUM STANDARD OF CONNECTION:

“For each of the main connections, what do you think needs to be the minimum standard of connection / trail construction or design?” (assuming within next 5-10 years)

SCALE / OPTIONS: Sidewalk; Marked lane; Separate from road; Separate Trail system

Key things to note:

There is limited support for Marked Lanes on Road, or Separate lane from road.
Most people prefer either a totally separate trail network or sidewalks, and these are inversely related. For example, where sidewalks are the dominate choice, trails are not rated highly.
The core activity areas like shopping, schools, downtown and social infrastructure will be well served with a good sidewalk network. However, the main connections lean to separate trail system.
