Future Investment and Focus

Respondents were asked about FUTURE INVESTMENT:

“Over the next 5-10 years, how much investment and focus should the City of Smithville apply to each of the following broad categories of parks and recreation infrastructure?” (FYI – the current total investment is less than $500,000 / year; but could increase over time with new grants funding).

SCALE: -5 Decrease substantially; 0 = Stay same; +5 Boost significantly

The first chart offers the results in a larger summary grouping. The second chart (scroll down) shows the full data by each point on the scale.

Key things to note:

  • There is clear appetite for increased invest across all parks and recreation amenity areas and categories. However, between 25% and 40% say they are inclined to ‘stay the same’. This is most pronounced in green spaces and nature areas.
  • Only a small % or respondents expressed a desire to reduce investment in these broad areas.
