Respondents were asked an open-ended question: As we begin the community visioning process for the Jasper Comprehensive Plan, in your view what are the three (3) most important things we should keep in mind?
Many respondents requested that the visioning process and the Comprehensive Plan be guided by preserving Jasper’s character, maintaining affordability, planning growth responsibly, and ensuring inclusion, transparency, and opportunity for all ages, while strengthening jobs, housing, infrastructure, and quality of life. Respondents support intentional growth including thoughtful land use with infrastructure that keeps pace with development and transportation needs. Many emphasize supporting downtown, protecting existing employers, attracting good-paying jobs and keeping young people in Jasper as priorities. Respondents urge planners to address affordable and workforce housing for young families and seniors. Respondents also want to protect farmland, green space, Jasper’s natural beauty, environmental quality and sustainability. Many respondents emphasize that the Comprehensive Plan should reflect a broad community of voices, be transparent and inclusive, and build trust between the City and its residents.
