The most common reason for excitement related to Jasper’s direction and future centered on the Downtown Revitalization and public space improvements, especially around Courthouse Square, new local business, expanded restaurant and shopping options. Respondents showed strong enthusiasm for the Parklands, Riverwalk expansion, trail and outdoor recreation connectivity. Residents view these investments as core quality of life improvements for all ages and includes strong support for infrastructure development of streets, sidewalks and walkability in general. Respondents are very excited about the proposed regional wellness center/YMCA as well as additional indoor recreation, fitness, and family-oriented facilities. Respondents are eager to see the arts and culture scene in Jasper thrive, as well as family-friendly and youth-oriented amenities. Overall growth, deliberate planning, and a forward-facing leadership is seen as positive, as well as excitement around the growing diversity and expanded representation and awareness in the community.
