With a population of approximately 18,000, the city is known for its strong agricultural heritage, family-orientated atmosphere, and growing economic opportunities. The city wishes to adopt the five-year strategic plan to reflect priorities, challenges and community input via the myriad of community engagement opportunities offered in this process.
The ‘future orientation’ is particularly important to take account of rapidly emerging social and technological trends. The ‘data driven’ ensures the plan is built on solid research, public input and information, and is measurable. The ‘people focused’ is important to build support for the vision and goals for the City, and to harness the best possible input into the plan’s formulation.
